Terms of Service
Last updated: 19 March 2026
1. Who We Are
BookBridge is operated by Melanie Koeppen, a sole trader registered in Czech Republic ("we", "us", "our"). The service is available at bookbridge.eu. You can contact us at getbookbridge@proton.me.
2. What BookBridge Does
BookBridge is an AI-powered book translation service for self-published authors. You upload a PDF of your book, choose a target language, and we produce a translated version formatted for publishing on Amazon KDP or IngramSpark.
Translation is performed using DeepL (primary translation engine) followed by an AI quality pass using Anthropic Claude to improve literary quality and preserve your writing style.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use BookBridge. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
4. Your Content and Rights
By uploading a PDF to BookBridge, you confirm that:
- You own the rights to the content, or have the necessary permissions to have it translated.
- The content does not infringe any third-party intellectual property rights.
- You consent to your content being processed by our translation partners (DeepL and Anthropic) for the purpose of translation.
You retain full ownership of your content. We do not claim any rights to your uploaded books or the translated output.
5. Translation Credits
BookBridge operates on a credit system. One translation credit allows you to translate one book into one target language. Credits are purchased through our payment provider, Stripe, at the price shown at checkout.
The current price is EUR 29 per translation credit. Prices may change in the future; any change will be communicated before taking effect.
6. No Refunds
All purchases of translation credits are final and non-refundable. Once a credit has been purchased, it cannot be refunded regardless of whether it has been used.
If you experience a technical problem that prevents you from using a credit, please contact us at getbookbridge@proton.me and we will investigate on a case-by-case basis.
7. Service Limitations
BookBridge is designed for text-based PDFs. The following limitations apply:
- Scanned PDFs are not supported. If your PDF was created by scanning a physical book, you will need to run OCR (e.g. using Adobe Acrobat) before uploading.
- Text embedded in images or diagrams is not translated.
- Translation quality depends on the capabilities of DeepL and Anthropic Claude. We do not guarantee that translations will be error-free or publication-ready without review.
- We recommend reviewing the translated output before publishing.
8. Availability
We aim to keep BookBridge available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may perform maintenance, updates, or experience outages. We are not liable for any losses resulting from unavailability.
9. Prohibited Uses
You may not use BookBridge to translate content that:
- Infringes copyright or other intellectual property rights.
- Is illegal, defamatory, abusive, or otherwise harmful.
- Violates the terms of service of DeepL or Anthropic.
10. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms. Any unused credits at the time of termination will not be refunded.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of BookBridge, including any errors in translation output.
Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid for the credit used in the transaction giving rise to the claim.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you by email before significant changes take effect. Continued use of BookBridge after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Czech Republic. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Czech Republic.
14. Contact
